Narators :
There are several types of narators, categorized with their relation to the character :
- First person : The narator is one of the characters and the story is told from their perspective. The pronouns used are “I” or “We”
- Second person : Rarely used, the narator is a character in the story that watched from afar. Uses pronouns like “You” for the reader.
- Third person limited : The narator is outside the story, but focuses on the perspective of a single character.
- Third person omnisient : The narator is outside the story and aware of everything in the story, like the toughts of other characters.
The narator can aditionalle be categorized depending on their reliability :
- Unreliable : The narator cannot be trusted
- Reliable : The narator can be trusted
Characters :
Protagonist : The main chracter around whom the story revolves Antagonist : The character or force that opposes the protagonist Static : Characters who remain the same throug the story Dynamic : Characters that change a lot Flat : Limited traits (chracters) Round (3d) Complex characters with multiple traits
These chracters can be chracteries in different wya, :
- Direct characterization : The author directly describes a chracers traits, for example througt a narator
- Indeiract characterization : Characters traits are given trought their actions, speech, toughts and interactions.
