The word “Gene” in biology has two meaning :
Mendelian gene
The Mendelian gene is the smalest unit of heridity, thus the smalest unit being send from parent to child.

Molecular gene
The molecular gene is a sequence of nucleotides in DNA, that produces functional RNA (if you dont understand that, heres a simpler defenition : Small amout of DNA).
